Joel Freeman is a world-renowned fitness expert who believes that building strength and endurance involves more than just exercise – it’s about finding the right balance between diet, exercise, and rest. With his guidance, you can create an effective home fitness program tailored specifically to your goals.

Joel Freeman’s tips on how to optimize your health with a balanced approach to nutrition, exercise, and recovery!

Nutrition:

Nutrition is a key component of any fitness program and Joel Freeman recommends emphasizing healthy eating habits, rather than extreme diets or fads. It’s important to choose whole unprocessed foods as much as possible, such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. Joel also encourages focusing on nutrient-dense foods that are high in vitamins and minerals such as dark leafy greens. Additionally, he stresses the importance of staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water throughout the day to support proper bodily function and encourage fat loss.

To create a healthy eating plan Joel suggests following the three-quarters rule when portioning out meals. This means filling up at least 75% of your plate with fruits and vegetables for fibre and vitamins with the remaining 25% dedicated to lean protein sources like chicken or salmon for essential amino acids. Healthy fats can be added in moderation such as avocado or nuts for extra flavour and satiety.

In addition to creating a balanced meal plan, Joel advises that you should strive to keep your body fuelled by eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. Joel believes this will help you maintain energy levels while also providing enough fuel for workouts. He recognizes that everyone has different dietary needs so he recommends listening to your body’s cues before making any drastic changes to your diet or nutrition plan.

Finding what works best for you in terms of nutrition when developing your home fitness program by prioritizing nutritious whole foods, monitoring portions, and eating mindfully can create a sustainable diet that supports both health and fitness goals from the comfort of your own home!

Exercise:

Exercise should be tailored to an individual’s goals, so it’s important to assess your own needs before developing a workout plan. Joel recommends beginning with lighter exercises such as walking or jogging to build overall cardiovascular fitness but also suggests incorporating both aerobic and strength training into your home fitness program to maximize results.

Aerobic exercise helps boost your heart rate while strengthening muscles and endurance; strength training tones and builds muscle mass; HIIT workouts can help burn fat quickly. Joel suggests experimenting with different types of exercises until you find what works best for you.

For those who are new to working out from home, the importance of starting slowly and gradually increasing intensity over time is key. Joel recommends incorporating a variety of workouts into your program for best results including cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises. For example, Joel suggests that you could do a 10-minute warm-up followed by 15 minutes of cardio and then finish off with 5 minutes of stretching or yoga each day. This type of routine will help you mix up your workouts while also developing endurance and strength.

Exercise has several beneficial effects on the body that can help build strength and endurance. Most notably, aerobic exercise helps to increase the capacity of the heart and lungs to take in more oxygen and deliver it to muscles. This increased oxygen delivery helps fuel muscles during exercise and leads to improved performance.

Exercise has a plethora of benefits that contribute to better physical and mental health. Not only does exercise promote cardiovascular health and proper functioning of muscles, but it also helps build strength and endurance. Strength training is especially important as it increases muscle mass, which can help reduce the risk of injuries from everyday activities or strenuous exercise. Additionally, strength training can help improve posture and balance, as well as increase flexibility. Joel emphasizes the importance of committing to a regular exercise routine. He suggests finding an activity that you enjoy and finding accountability partners to keep you motivated and on track with your goals.

Recovery:

Recovery is just as important as exercise when it comes to building strength and endurance. Joel suggests taking at least one full rest day per week to give your body a chance to recover and repair itself. Also, active recovery activities like stretching or yoga help relax tense muscles, improve flexibility, and reduce the chances of injury.

Resting allows your body to recharge and replenish the energy stored used during exercise. During rest, your muscles can repair themselves and build greater muscle mass over time, leading to increased strength and improved performance. Additionally, rest helps reduce inflammation caused by intense exercise which can lead to an increase in joint mobility and overall better physical health.

Not only does resting between workouts help with physical recovery, but it can also help support mental health by reducing stress levels. Joel emphasizes the importance of listening to your body’s cues so that you can adjust your workout routine accordingly if needed to prevent burnout or fatigue. Joel also suggests finding activities outside of the gym that can help promote relaxation such as reading a book or taking a leisurely walk outdoors for some fresh air.

Rest days are essential for any type of home fitness program as they allow your body time away from intense workouts to rebuild both physically and mentally from the stress of physical activity. Joel encourages his followers not only to listen to their bodies but also to make sure they’re scheduling enough recovery days into their fitness routine to reach their goals safely and effectively.

In conclusion, Joel Freeman is a big proponent of creating an individualized fitness program tailored specifically to your needs and goals. Finding a balance between diet, exercise, and rest to optimize both physical and mental health from the comfort of your own home is essential. By following Joel’s tips on nutrition, exercise, and recovery you can make positive strides towards achieving your fitness goals while taking care of yourself along the way.

So what are you waiting for? Get started on your fitness journey today and create the healthy lifestyle you deserve!

The health of a person is the basic thing in a person’s life, says Dr Jordan Sudberg. Almost all spheres of life require a person to healthy at the first spot for offering as well as gaining the best benefits of life. Dr Jordan Sudberg says that a person will not be able to achieve the heights in all the seven spheres of life unless a human being does not possess devotion to each of these spheres for getting the best benefits out of it. If you do not have stable health or have low health conditions. The following aspects can hinder your way as per the suggestions of Dr Jordan Sudberg.

  • Your will express no love and will have low intimacy.
  • Feel difficulty in supporting your family financially.
  • Not be able to serve the conscious parenting of your kids.
  • You cannot be able to perform well at your work spot as you will be physically too exhausted to be productive.
  • Will be dull and void of life as your physical health would not have enough caliber to have fun with friends and family.
  • You should keep in mind that a weak body can result in a weaker mind.

If you feel that your health is continuously degrading then you should loom for charity. Other contributions so that you can get inner peace by mending and healing the scars of others.

How you can measure your health?

The energy level you possess is the basic reflection of the well-being and overall health condition of a human being. The more energy is depicted by a person in the daily chores of life. The better and healthier you will be considered.

It is no rocket science in the fact that all human beings are exposed to the same time limit in a day, says Dr Jordan Sudberg. What makes the difference between the day of a healthy and weak person is how they utilize it. The difference is marked by the kind and amount of energy put in each sphere. People usually do not realize the fact that there is some relation between the four layers of energy and health. This relationship is known as a symbiotic relationship. The health of a person is generally made up of four types of energy.

  • The first one is physical energy.
  • Second one is known as mental energy.
  • The third one is known as emotional energy.
  • Fourth one is known as spiritual energy.

It is a generally known fact that the majority of people are usually obsessed with the physical layer of energy to retain health. If humans notice on a deeper level of science, then they may feel that the spiritual. Mental as well as emotional layers of energy have a greater impact on the liveliness, appetite, energy, passion, and how a person generally feels about himself. The resilience and reliance of a person are also dependent upon the four layers of energy in common. If you understand how these four types of energies are responsible for the people who use to meditate, exercise, eat well, take care of themselves, and feel good about themselves; you may live life to its fullest.

Exercise

Now, if we talk about the other scenario. Some people eat well, take care of themselves, and do exercises and meditation and still feel unhappy, anxious, and depressed. Does this thing make sense to you? If yes then you may have thought that any of the four energies may be in less amount. The actual answer to this question is to remain healthy and at the prime start of being, all four kinds of energies have to be aligned.

Question

Now comes an important question. How a person can align the four energies to get the maximum benefits? You have to act consciously in all seven areas of life to align the energy to live life to its fullest. A complete source of energy is when all four types of energy are aligned properly.

When a person does a conscious effort of living in each of the seven spheres of life, her life force receives energy from all four types. After the receiving and proper aligning of all four types. A person begins to shine more brightly and can manifest himself into a higher physical energy level.

Sphere of life

You must remember that every time a person ignores a sphere of life and does not force himself for the proper alignment of the energies. More negligence will result in the dimming of inner light and peace. If you ignore all of your energy levels then no wonder your energy level falls to zero and you may not wish to live a life at all. We can give you an example as per the suggestions of Dr. Jordan Sudberg. If you are continuously facing depression, anxiety, and tension.Be sure that you have stopped investing in family life, friendships, love life, and continued learnings as well as in contribution and charity.

Kevin Luetolf discusses the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Kevin Luetolf says you can tell the state of your health life when it is not at the best point. The simple symptom is that it often feels off to you. You can also feel tired as well as problems in the digestive system functioning can also be reported. You can often catch a cold and the immune system of your body is not working that well. The mental condition of the person who does not own a healthy lifestyle is also not up to the mark. The issues in concentration and anxiety can be felt at some time of the day. Continuous depression is also one of the alarming signs of this state.

Kevin Luetolf

If you are facing any or all of these then there is good news for you. Kevin Luetolf has told some of the secrets to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you do not have to turn your whole living style and standards upside down at night. Small lifestyle changes can make you direct towards improvement and well-being. In this way, by making small alterations, you can get to know the big changes that can be made in your life to make it better as well as the best.

The good thing about maintaining a healthy lifestyle is that once you start making the small life changes, these small changes become the motivation for the bigger changes and the cycle goes on. Now, we can come to the basic question I.e., what is a healthy lifestyle?

Healthy lifestyle

Kevin Luetolf defines a healthy lifestyle. He states that if you enquire fifty people about the definition of a healthy lifestyle, you will get the same number of definitions. This means that the definition of being healthy varies from person to person. There is no standard way to be healthy and fit. A healthy lifestyle means adopting the things which make you happy, feel good, and make your immune system more persistent.

Kevin Luetolf further adds the quality of a healthy lifestyle also varies from person to person. For some people the five-mile walk every week is the mole stone to staying healthy. Others think that eating organic while cheat day once a week is the standard to stay healthy. Some people believe in intermitted fasting while others want to have a gym and properly shaped bodies. All of these ideas are correct and are good for people who have adopted them. The basic formula of a healthy lifestyle is to have a sense of achievement and keep the immune system boosted to the point that can make you feel good about yourself in the healthiest possible manner.

How healthy lifestyle feels beneficial?

This is one of the important questions that need consideration for people who are striving for having a healthy lifestyle. We have illustrated the suggestion which is made up with the help of Kevin Luetolf who is a famous influencer and blogger for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Prevention of the diseases

The first milestone that is achieved by adopting a healthy lifestyle is the prevention of diseases. A healthy lifestyle can reduce the ratio and rate of the diseases that run in the genes. The recent studies in this scenario have depicted that the standard American diet which consists of fresh vegetables and rich fruits; if followed for almost eight weeks in a row can reduce the rate of cardiovascular diseases.

The deduction of refined grains and carbs also helps in the reduction of many diseases. The observation made on almost two lakh people, who ate whole grains has reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by twenty-nine percent.

Routine

In another study, people who consumed almost 90 grams of whole grains in their daily routine reduced the rate of cardiovascular disease by 22 percent.

If we talk about exercise, says Kevin Luetolf, even the lowest of eleven minutes can add years to the life span. According to research who was done on 44k individuals, eleven minutes of meditation. Moderate kind of exercises can lower the risk of death as compared to the people who have done the same exercises with intensity for two minutes. This comparison was even true when applied to the people who use to sit for 8.5 hours per day.

You can save money

For maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you have to see your physician for an annual physical exam. Even if you do not have diseases that run in your family and are in the healthiest state of life, still you should invest in getting a complete health check-up for annual reports. There are usually diseases that are silent but are present.

Increase in a lifespan

The basic goal of the healthiest lifestyle is to increase the life span of your life, says Kevin Luetolf. The person who keeps his muscles busy in his youth days has the chance of getting into bed due to muscular pains as compared to those who do not have any physical activity at an early age their life.

Olive oil has been around for well over 10,000 years. Its health benefits are well-known factors in many people’s choice to use it as their primary skincare treatment or preference for products containing it. This skincare trend is far from new, as its roots go further back than most history books dare to. Today, it is seeing renewed popularity with companies such as Texas Hill Country Olive Co., including their award-winning Texas olive oil in skincare products.

Skincare History – Olive Oil

From the Romans to the Egyptians, oil – particularly extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) – has had a long history within the realms of skincare. This luscious golden-green liquid has been known for its health benefits and ability to rejuvenate and replenish skin and hair.

The Greeks and Romans

Before soap, Greeks and Romans bathed in EVOO lathering, scraping it off with a strigil. Wealthier households would perfume the olive oils before bathing. Today’s modern equivalent is Castile soap – a hypoallergenic soap made from EVOO and lye. It is a popular soap for sensitive babies’ skin and households that value natural alternatives.

Olympians (particularly wrestlers) used olive oil to slicken their skin for fights and battles.

An early Greek Physician named Galen is credited with transitioning from oil to cream to commercial face cream. Galen’s Wax was made with a blend of EVOO, beeswax, and rosewater and is regarded as the world’s first cold cream. This mixture of ingredients is still used to this date as a treatment for psoriasis and eczema.

Egypt

As one of the oldest beauty hubs, the ancient Egyptians had a role in almost all aspects of skincare and self-care – from ancient hair removal to cleansing rituals, there are a few areas they were not leaders in. Cleopatra was known to use olive oil on her skin. She would bathe with it and use it in her hair. A mixture of absorbent clay and olive oil was said to be used as a skin cleanser, almost akin to a soap. The clay would absorb dirt and draw out impurities while the EVOO cleaned the area. Mixtures of sea salt and olive oil were also used as ancient exfoliating scrubs!

Using Texas Olive Oil To Care for Your Skin At Home

Looking at its fantastic history, it is clear why many civilizations have opted to use it as part of their skincare rituals. You can benefit from EVOOs goodness at home with several different skincare routines:

  • Oil cleansing – It might seem strange to use oil to cleanse your face; however it works better than you’d think. With a damp face, use a cotton pad dipped in Texas olive oil to gently clean your skin, focusing on problem areas. Use a warm wet towel to pat your face down when done.
  • Diet – Adding good quality EVOO to your daily diet as a substitute for other cooking oils and on its own can help add powerful antioxidants to help combat UV damage.
  • Moisturising – A drizzle of your favorite EVOO in your bath water or as a moisturizer as you get out of the shower is a great way to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Ready-made products – Opting for specialist and locally produced EVOO-based skincare products is usually best – these are often created with particular skin care issues in mind. Have a look at the offering from Texas Hill Country Olive Co.!

No matter how you choose to use your EVOO as part of your daily care routines, it is essential to ensure that you use a high-quality variety that is full of goodness!

The Benefits Of Texas Olive Oil For Skin

As this liquid gold contains several potent cancer-fighting anti-oxidants, it helps to reduce oxidative stress from the body and the skin. Damage caused by exposure to the elements and harsh sunshine can be soothed by adding Texas olive oil to your daily moisturizing routine and diet. There are many other benefits to using EVOO, such as:

  • It is natural – With many people opting for more natural skincare treatments, this is as natural as it comes. Using EVOO as a skin treatment frees your skin from harsh chemicals and unpronounceable ingredients.
  • Hypoallergenic – The skin is the body’s biggest organ and can be pretty sensitive. EVOO might be the best option for those looking for a hypoallergenic alternative to regular moisturizers and cleansers!
  • Readily available – Most households these days have EVOO in their kitchen cupboards; should you ever run out of your favorite products, you can readily use food-grade EVOO instead!
  • Excellent exfoliant – Its powerful anti-oxidants are a great way to cleanse pores – you can easily remove even stubborn-to-reach blackheads with the help of oil cleansing.
  • Locks in moisture – Change of season can be tough on all skin types – often leaving your skin feeling tired, worn-out, and dry. EVOO is an excellent way to lock in moisture and keep your skin feeling supple and smooth!

There are many additional benefits to using this delicious ingredient on your skin; you might be wondering whether it makes a difference what type or variety of EVOO is best to use for topical applications. Robust varieties offer various naturally occurring fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E.

The Naked Truth: Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep

Skincare has a long history; humans have spent thousands of years perfecting their skincare routines and diets to ensure that their skin stays in top form. A thing that the ancient civilizations learned was that beauty is a little more than skin deep. What you put into your body is what you get out of it.

While topical EVOO is the first choice for skincare, it is vital to understand that the quality of your skin comes from within. Adding Texas olive oil to your daily diet can help increase your anti-oxidants and offer vitamins A and E, which are vital for glowing complexions. These health benefits can help keep your skin nourished and damage-free.

During the pandemic, there was a rise in remote doctors appointments, also known as telehealth. This option was appealing due to the convenience of receiving physical and mental health care from the comfort of their own homes. This was when social distancing was being strongly enforced. Many patients didn’t realize that telehealth may have put some of their most sensitive data at risk of being hacked.

Telehealth stems from a lack of security over the collection, use, and sharing of data. The lack of security made it easier for patients to share their data with providers. It also made it easier for third parties to access their information as well. With no paper trail, patients and providers had no way of knowing whether or not their sensitive information was being shared.

To solve this problem, providers are beginning to incorporate block chain applications into their everyday routines. Blockchain-powered telehealth increases security while also supplying a seamless exchange of data between doctors and patients. A ledger is also kept of all data so that both parties are able to see who is looking at this data. This ensures that there are no breaches in security. This ledger increases consumer confidence in the system. Overall, this makes for a more reliable and beneficial experience for both patients and providers.

With all the benefits of blockchain, hospitals across the country should make the switch to a more reliable cybersecurity system.

The post Teens and social media: Set up a strategy that supports teens appeared first on Social Media Explorer.

]]>

It’s difficult to identify a generational gap that is greater than the one caused by technology, particularly social media. In my clinic for child and adolescent psychotherapy, the most frequent question I receive from parents is how to speak with teens about technology use.

Teens are worried that their mental health is being affected by technology overload. Teens have it more complex. It doesn’t matter if they use social media, gaming, or even chat boards, digital technology has been integrated in their daily life.

When faced with this conflict, I ask my parents and caregivers how they are doing. MoreThey are using technology with their children, but HowIt is used and the purpose. ImpactingTheir headspace. When we are able to answer those questions we can collaborate with others to solve them.

Instead of fighting the problem and getting into a tug-ofwar, family members can concentrate on what the holiday season has in store. HowThey use social media. Families can work together to create a strategy for teens that promotes mental and social health.

The importance of parents and caregivers spending time with teenagers in reflective partnership is crucial. This is not something parents should do on their own. This is my 4-step guide to helping you navigate the new territory and making healthy, productive changes.

Step 1. Help teenagers evaluate the use of social media.

Discuss the quality and relevance of what your children consume online. Are you finding positive content, such as inspirational quotes and pictures of adorable babies? Are there negative content, such as politically-charged news and memes making fun of specific groups? Content isn’t all created equally. Without critically and intentionally evaluating the buckets in which content belongs, it can be difficult to determine what you should consume.

The use patterns of your teenagers are just as crucial. Are they more likely to use social media when feeling sad, angry, bored, or down? Is it because they want to be able to ignore their discomfort or avoid doing the homework that has been piling up? Is it possible to get away from the device and not feel any discomfort?

You might be able to identify an anxiety-related problem by asking teenagers to consider the relationship between what they do in real life and how it affects their use of Instagram, TikTok or other social media sites. It is possible to help your teens identify more effective ways to manage their discomfort, such as calling a friend and listening to music.

Step 2 – Ask your clients how they are using social media.

Ask your teenagers to openly discuss the effects of social media on mental health. What does it feel like to scroll on social media? Is there a noticeable difference in their feelings when they see one type of content such as puppy videos, body-positive posts or photos of influencers that are heavily edited or unrealistic, or content written by someone who is in a negative mindset?

Learn to let go of sleep battles with your teen

Many teens admit that they feel anxious when the thought of leaving their social media accounts is brought up. However, teens feel more at ease if they can get rid of their devices. This is not surprising as it can be helpful to take time off social media in order to stay in the present and improve your mood.

Teens will feel more inclined to change their behavior on social media if they can create more connections between their use of the platform and their feelings about it.

Step 3: Instruct teens to make the desired changes.

Ask your teenagers if they would like to make changes in the way that they use social media. If so, what? They might have decided that social media should be less of a priority. Maybe they’ve noticed that social media makes them feel bad about their own lives. It doesn’t matter what the changes might be, this is a great time to list them and establish specific goals.

Instagram's grim appeal as a silent self-esteem breaker

It is helpful to think about what the change would bring you. Do they want to be able to use the time for other activities? Do they want to improve their self-esteem or mood? Are they seeking more genuine connection and authentic experiences?

Setting goals is crucial for your teenager. They will likely buy in to the process and be willing to make changes.

Step 4 – List the steps you need to take and agree to them

It is now that you can get real. For your teenagers to reach their goals, what is the best way to help them? Is it necessary for them to have screen-time, or limit the use of their smartphone? Do they need the phone to stay in the same place as the bed when it goes to sleep, or into a basket during dinner?

20 board games and puzzles for the best family game night (SME Underscored)

They might be happy spending so much of their time online and want to spend more on the things they eat. Which accounts make them unhappy and which ones they want to block? What kinds of accounts should they follow or unfollow? What will their approach be to spring cleaning? How will they spring-clean their feed? Will they swap five of the negative accounts for five each day or are they open to trying another approach?

Some teenagers have found that disabling comments and making accounts private or keeping social media usage within certain limits, such as specific hours, can help them regain some control.

A generation of digital natives sits across from generations that grew up playing outdoors with their next-door neighbors. It can be difficult to believe both sides are from the same planet when it comes technology topics such as social media.

It is not worth trying to change teens’ ways of thinking. Instead, accept technology usage as a part of daily life and focus on quality, rather than quantity. That will lead to more productive conversations. It’s in this space that real, positive change can take place.

97% of diets fail.  For the half of America looking to lose excess weight, this is dismaying news.  During the pandemic, 42% of adults unintentionally gained weight.  Despite being a major health issue in this country, only 56% of physicians feel qualified to treat obesity.  Training in obesity management is scarce, and improper delivery can lead to overweight patients feeling judged by their doctor.  Defensive patients are less likely to follow through with medical advice.  These are just some of the challenges doctors face when trying to help their patients.

One underutilized tool in weight loss is medication.  Just a quarter of doctors account for 90% of all weight loss prescriptions.  Under 3% of eligible patients are prescribed weight loss medication.  These medications have been studied extensively.  One of the most popular weight loss drugs, phentermine, was approved by the FDA in 1959.  For people on Bupropion or Naltrexone, patients lost 7 to 8 times as much of their body weight after 24 weeks compared to those who used diet and exercise alone.

Another issue of concern with regards to losing weight is mental health.  3 in 5 Americans say the weight loss process itself is nearly as miserable as being overweight.  Mental conditions such as depression can contribute to problems with weight.  Some people living with depression eat emotionally; half of adults with a history of binge eating have also experienced depression.  Some people have a genuine food addiction, one just as dangerous as other forms of substance abuse.

No longer is three meals per day a norm. A lot of people have decided to stay at home because the usual practice was to go out for dinner every day. That is what Easting does. lunch mealThis does not occur as often today as in the past. It was clear to people that good food is essential for fuelling their bodies and to be able to interact with others. For people to stay healthy, feel calm, and manage stress, they need to eat lunch.

While food can be easily found at home, snack foods are often more expensive. The most popular drinks include coffee, energy drinks, and sugar-filled beverages that are pushed by hospitals. They’re fast and healthy. Although they can be easily snatched up, these drinks do not provide healthy food.

Fast food can be so convenient and much simpler than cooking. It is intuitively a simple task. But is it true? Fast-food restaurants offer healthy alternatives, such as salads with chicken and vegetable bowls. You should avoid ordering french fries, heavy fried food or fattening beverages.

Many of us don’t know the difference between eating right and eating the right lunch menu. If you are used to socializing with others, it is crucial to learn how to handle stress when we’re cooped up. Sometimes we need to be motivated more than what we have at home. People are trying to be healthy. We all fall prey to our habits. We have all engaged in certain bad eating habits and we don’t always know how to stop. It is easy to be tempted by the fridge or food stock. While we don’t have to be stressed to complete a task or get papers answered, it is too late for those stressful moments to consider now.

It’s easy to imagine a calm mind, and spending an hour each day to meditate. Helen Lee SchifterTalks about how peace of mind can stabilize and give us better days. You don’t have to be depressed for days, but it is possible to change your habits.

Start your journey to health and well-being at the grocery shop. As you go about your daily routine, adding comfort foods to your cart is a good idea. At the checkout, take a look at your cart and you’ll be shocked at all the junk. You can now take them out. You should not bring them home. It is an act of pride. You can’t eat them if they are not in your refrigerator.

The more I travel the world, there is one truth that I’ve noticed. Everyone has cell phones.

Even in the poorest corners of the globe, most people have access to a cell phone of some sort. This little bit of technology is a crucial part of their lives for lots of reasons.

During my recent time with The UN Foundation, I learned about the Mobile Alliance For Maternal Action. Affectionately known as MAMA, they are using SMS and audio messages to provide health information to expectant mothers. These health messages and reminders are comprehensive, stage-based and adapted to different languages and to address specific needs.

Every day 1,000 women do not survive child birth or pregnancy. While this happens for a number of reasons, the one MAMA wants to focus on is making sure that the mothers (and their families) have all the information they need about being pregnant.

When an expectant mother signs up for the service they will begin receiving week specific text messages and audio messages telling them what is happening with the baby, nutritional information and suggestions on what they should be doing to take care of themselves. This not only empowers the women, but it serves to educate the entire family on what she should and shouldn’t be doing. In cultures where women spend hours hauling water and bent over a potentially toxic cookstove, they help to lighten the burden on her duties.

We listened to some of the audio messages and they were fun and informative. It was obvious that this was something that a whole family would listen to and enjoy. In many cases this would be the only prenatal care the mother may receive so you can see why it would be so important.

While you can’t donate directly to MAMA, I’m hoping instead you’ll take the time to educate yourself about the great work they do and then tell the world. They’ve established a presence on Facebook and Twitter and donating your voice to the cause is a great way to help out any organization like this. Be sure to watch the video above to get a great sense of what they are all about.

My Social Media 2011 TO BE List – What’s Yours? https://socialmediaexplorer.com/social-media-marketing-training/my-social-media-2011-to-be-list-whats-yours/ https://socialmediaexplorer.com/social-media-marketing-training/my-social-media-2011-to-be-list-whats-yours/#comments Fri, 07 Jan 2011 11:00:02 +0000 http://socialmediaexp.wpengine.com/?p=6018 Forget the TO DO List and work on creating a TO BE list to make 2011 the best year and the best you ever!

Right now, you are probably walking around with some sort of list detailing the things you need to do, tasks you need to complete, and strategies you need to implement for the coming year.

To-Do lists are great for keeping us organized and helping us get through our busy days, but do they really help us accomplish creating the image, person, and character needed to run our business or live our lives more successfully?

What would happen if we turned that TO DO List into a TO BE list? What if at the end of that busy week, we could look back at all the things we accomplished that helped us discover our strengths, foster important relationships, and live a more balanced and joyful life?

To-do list book.

‘Being’ and ‘doing’ are inseparable aspects of the human condition and attention must be paid to both, so I’m giving this a shot in 2011. I have started my TO BE list detailing the kind of person, business, and organization that I am willing to work hard on becoming and developing in the next weeks and months.

It is not complete by any means, but here’s my start:

To Be List -January 2-January9, 2011:

  • TO BE more open and willing to share content that will empower and engage my customers in new and innovative ways. Tools like Shareaholic and Friendfeed make this easy and simple.
  • TO BE more engaging on line. Comment more, share tweets of value, and extend the conversations beyond the chit chat. TwitLonger , Tweetalot, and Plurk are great ways to take your connections to the next level.
  • TO BE more aware of my impact. Monitoring the velocity and reach of my contributions can help me be more targeted in my efforts. I love TweetReach and Klout as they give me insight into how I can be better impacting and influencing the conversation.
  • TO BE more intentional; acknowledging publicly the contributions I see others making. Add members of Your Dream Team to a Twitter List or let your Top Followers know why they matter. I use the #WF-Why Follow to add to my #FF Follow Friday picks

At the end of this week, I hope to look back and see how much I have accomplished in these specific areas. (I have a sneaking suspicion, that if I can accomplish this; my “To Do” lists will be impacted as well.)
If you value being number one, increasing your market share, creating a more loyal following, or developing more powerful relationships, then you need a TO BE list and action strategies to ensure success.

What will  your TO BE  be in 2011?

At some point in our engagement in the social media space we step out on a limb and push the buttons of those within the community. The push back of the community can be unbearable if you are not prepared.

It begins as a brilliant idea that sparks an emotional response. These emotions ignite a fire that spreads throughout the community.  With a comment on a blog, a stream of Twitter messages and even a video reply on YouTube the fires rage to what you thought was a good idea. Your good idea backfires and now you have to deal with the consequences of what happens when good ideas go astray.

Here are five simple steps to embrace your social media grief.

Denial
The first thing is to deny that the event has never taken place. We reread the comments and review what we’ve said, swearing that this couldn’t be happening to us. This denial can cause you to want to isolate yourself hoping that if you go away so will all this unsolicited pain. This stage has no time limit, however, it can last for just a few minutes or as long as you want to stay in the state of denial.

Anger
The next step of the grieving process is anger.  It’s at this phase that you start to feel victimized and angered that anyone would twist your idea or blow out of proportion the things that you’ve said. The anger can go two ways, both at the idiots that didn’t like your idea as well as blaming yourself for letting this happen.

Being angry can be good unless you hold on to it to long and then it becomes defeating. Enjoy being angry for a moment, but let it go and move on.

Bargaining
It’s at this phase that you try to work your used car salesman skills and start bargaining and negotiating. It’s also at this point that you begin to call your peers, send them direct messages and frantically search for your network of insiders to try to work their magic to help you make all this pain go away. Reality then steps in when you realize that your connections can only help so much.

Depression
This is the phase when you realize that you can’t pull enough strings to make it go away and all you can see is your social media currency losing it’s value and the social media community labeling you as the one who launched the brilliant idea that backfired. It’s at this point that depression sets in and all you see is helplessness.

However, if you can work through this phase the light at the end of the tunnel is closer than it has ever been.

Acceptance
The final step in this social media grieving process is accepting your action. It’s at this point that you’re no longer denying the fact that it happened. The anger levels have tapered off and depression has lost its grip on your thoughts and emotions.

This is when you accept that you can’t go backwards, but you can help clarify and rebuild any levels of trust that have been broken. It’s at this point that if you are honest and transparent you’ll regain respect even if the community never accepts your brilliant idea.

This is a process that no one wants to have to go through. However, if you live outside of the echo chamber and position yourself as a voice rather than an echo, the chance of being misquoted, misunderstood and misrepresented are more then likely to happen.

Having a response plan in place will help you tremendously and hopefully keep you from having to work through the five steps of social media grieving.

How have you dealt with enraged consumers that have deemed a piece of content controversial? Do you have a plan in place to deal with damage control?

What are your thoughts?
